This is a heavily modified version of the ALV light scattering device. It is used in many research projects and has a high operating rate.

Using a homemade confocal microscope, dynamic light scattering measurements can be performed on microvolumes. FCS is also now possible.

ALV's light scattering device. Ideal for general-purpose experiments. Uses a He-Ne laser and can be used at temperatures between -10 and 90ºC.

A homemade device for observing laser speckles. A long-coherence length laser and a highly sensitive camera make it possible to visualize blurry spatial inhomogeneities that cannot be seen in real-space observations.

An automated X-ray scattering instrument that covers the range from SAXS to WAXS, up to q=1E-3 - 5 Å-1. Temperature can be controlled between -10 and 120C. It is usually operated in atmospheric chamber mode, and can measure up to q=5E-3 - 2 Å-1. Finally, in addition to light scattering, X-ray scattering can be measured in the lab!

Viscoelastic behavior, such as viscosity, dynamic viscoelasticity, and stress relaxation, can be measured using fixtures such as double cylinders, parallel plates, and cone plates.

It can be stretched uniaxially up to a maximum stretch ratio of about 20 times. I often used a 50N air chuck type clamp, but the clip type clamp worked surprisingly well.

Equipped with a differential refractive index and PDA-type UV detector, it can perform aqueous size exclusion chromatography and reversed phase chromatography using high-pressure gradients above room temperature. Semi-fractionation is also possible. There are too many flow paths, which is causing a lot of trouble.

This digital refractometer is effective up to the 5th decimal point. It can be used with liquid and solid samples and measured simply by placing it on the measurement site. It uses FFKM packing, which makes it highly resistant to organic solvents. The temperature range is from 4C to 125C.

The refractive index increment (dn/dc) of polymer solutions can be measured. Highly viscous samples must be diluted before measurement.

It can visually evaluate anisotropic samples such as crystals and liquid crystals, and is also useful for measuring samples with unclear interfaces, such as gel samples immersed in water.

It can perform centrifugation at up to 30,000×g and can adjust the temperature from -10 to 40ºC. It is equipped with various rotors.

It can measure transmittance and absorbance in the 200-1100nm wavelength range. The photometric range is about -3 to 3Abs. It is equipped with a Peltier temperature controller and can control the temperature within the range of 0 to 100℃. It has a low-volume cell for a precious sample, a capillary cell, and a flow cell for DNA melting curves.

A glove box for an anhydrous environment. Since the humidity in Hokkaido is low to begin with, the frequency of use may have decreased.

This is a device that mixes polymer solutions. It is a behind-the-scenes player that improves the reproducibility of samples. It is so popular that we have introduced a second unit.

We often use this freeze-dryer to purify samples. It's an old device, but Dr.Ohira overhauled it, so it's working well now.

It's a freezer. As expected, the door of a large freezer is heavy.

Ultrapure water equipment. It can quickly supply a set volume of pure water. Space-saving.
